Carmarthenshire’s Scott Davies won his fourth consecutive Under-23 National Time Trial title on the Isle of Man, becoming the first rider to do so.

In his Team Wiggins colours, the Welshman put in a sterling performance on the Manx course stopping the clock at 28:20.33. He topped the table an impressive 49.66 seconds of silver medallist Thomas Baylis, One Pro Cycling to earn the national jersey.

Scott Davies said: “I’m really happy to win the Under 23 title for a fourth time. It’s a great feeling to be National Champion for another year. Hopefully I’ll be able to wear the stripes a few more times this season.

I wanted to give it my all, and if that turned out to be enough for the win, then brilliant!”

In the men's time trial championship Sam Harrison, Team Wiggins, was the only Welsh rider inside the top 10, finishing 8th with a time of 59:49.37. Team Sky's Owain Doull suffered a puncture, diminishing his chances for a podium place.

Earlier in the day, Elinor Barker, Matrix Pro Cycling, was the top Welsh female finishing in fifth place with a time of 33:30.13. The Olympic champion suffered a puncture with 5km to go, and was forced to complete the time trial on her road bike. Team WNT's Hayley Jones was fifth in the Under 23 Women's Time Trial Championship.

There will be more Welsh competition on Sunday in the HSBC UK National Road Race Championships.
