Sunday 6 September sees the Grand Depart of the Aviva Tour of Britain from Beaumaris on Anglesey, marking the first time that the modern race has begun in Wales. Leaving Anglesey via the famous Menai Bridge, the race heads through all six North Wales regions - Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham - and the heart of Snowdonia before the finish in the centre of Wrexham.
Twenty top teams including Team Sky, Etixx-Quickstep and Team Cannondale Garmin will wow British crowds as they vie for the coveted leader’s jersey.
The 2015 edition begins in beautiful Beaumaris overlooking the Menai Strait on Anglesey. The route loops into the centre of the island before heading to the mainland and the epic scenery of Snowdonia, passing the foot of Snowdon at Llanberis and over the top of Llanberis Pass, the first of three categorised climbs.
From here the route heads west through Betws-y-Coed and Llanrwst before crossing the moors to Denbigh before a final run-in through the Clwydian hills to finish in Wrexham.

Welsh Cycling will have competitions for local school children at the finish in Wrexham, where a host of activities will be available.

I am delighted that this and the extensive coverage in the local and national press and online will bring Flintshire to the attention of a vast international audience.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to see the cream of international cycling in action and I am sure crowds will be out in force to enjoy the excitement and thrill of the race."
The riders are expected to reach the Flintshire border in Cadole at 14.30hrs, travelling on the A5119 Ruthin Road into Mold with a sprint race finish on New Street near the Bethesda Chapel. The race will then continue along New Street and then join the A541 Chester Road before taking the A549 Mold Road through Mynydd Isa into Buckley. The race will continue through Buckley on the A549 on to Brook Street before taking the A550 on to Hope and leaving Flintshire on the A541 Wrexham Road at around 15.00hrs.
Rolling road closures will be in operation along the route which may result in delays of approximately 15-20 minutes.
Stage One will be live on ITV from 1.00pm to 4.00pm on Sunday 6 September, with highlights at 10.00pm on ITV4 the same evening.
