Professional cyclists including former British Champion Kristian House (JLT Condor) will star in Ystwyth Cycling Clubs’ Angela Davies Memorial Road Race this Sunday, around the roads of Ceredigion.

House leads his team at the race, which remembers Angela, daughter of club life member Ken Williams, who sadly lost her fight against cancer at the age of 32 in 2005. Angela was a regular helper at Ystwyth Cycling Club events during her lifetime.

Felix English, winner of the Aberystwyth round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series race in May 2014 is also due to ride, and the JLT team, formerly known as Rapha Condor JLT have never lost a round of the Aberystwyth Tour Series race with Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy also taking the honours for the team in the past.

This time, the race is out on the open road, on a course based around Trawscoed and Pontrhydygroes on a 13 mile circuit that is ridden four times before the riders head back towards Aberystwyth via the fearsome Hafod climb from Pontrhydygroes to Devils Bridge. Also entered are local riders Gruff Lewis and Stevie Williams, who both ride for the Pedal Heaven racing team whilst Josh Hunt of Velosure Starley Primal will also be one to watch.

The field will also feature amateur riders and the Williams family have put up a cash prize for the first local amateur to finish the race.

The race rolls out from Aberystwyth Rugby Club at 10.30am on Sunday 15th march and is expected to finish at around 1.30pm at the village of Moriah, just outside Southgate.
