Road racers in North Wales won't have to travel far to race in 2015 as the region sees the launch a 3-race series in Denbighshire. The series will be in addition to the established Brenig Road Race and the Great Orme Road Race (Rhos on Sea CC).
The road season kicks off in the region at the closed circuit at Marsh Tracks where the KOM Spring Series starts it's 3-week series on Sunday 15th of March. The series will have races for all including under 8s up to category 4, category 3, E12 and a women's only category 234 race. Following the success of the women's only race last year, orgnaiser Jason Breakey has been granted permission to run a women's race at all 3 race meetings for 2015. With the categories changed from E1234 to 234, it is hoped that more novice women will make the first step and have a go at racing.
On Wednesday 1st of April we see the return of the Edge Cycleworks Marsh Tracks Summer Series to Marsh Tracks. The series sees 9 clubs host 24 races from April through to the end of September. To increase safety and quality of experience for riders, all the men's races during April will include an entry in advance option with a cap of 40 on the field.
On the 12th of April we visit the open roads of Denbighshire for the first of the North Wales Road Race Series where Rhos on Sea will host a 50 mile Category 2/3/4 race on the Llandyrnog 9-mile flat loop, (as featured at the end of the Brenig Road Race). All three of the series' races will be held on this circuit with Holywell Avengers hosting the second round on Sunday 10 May, which will also see a seperate Women's Category 2/3/4 race. The last of the three races will take place on Sunday 7th of June. With over half of entries to the first race already booked, it looks to be a successful series.
