It was a wet and windy day at the Marsh Tracks Circuit in Rhyl, but it was an exciting day of racing in North Wales with riders travelling from across Wales to take part in the Project 2018 Race Series.

Youth A boys took to the circuit for a 40 minutes plus five lap race, in windy conditions that managed to split the field. Jack Broadley, Cardiff Ajax, broke away from Alex Harvey, Marsh Tracks Race Team and Nicholas Jones, TRCC . Both riders paused a little too long and Broadley managed to power away from the pair to take the win. Alex Harvey then sprinted to get second place on his home circuit.

In the Youth B boys Tomos Owens, Brooks Cycles, put a clear gap between himself and Tomos Nesham, Cardiff Jif with Simon Price Marsh Tracks Race Team crossing the line for third place five seconds later.

It was a tightly contested race for the Youth A girls. Megan Chard, Bush Health Care CRT and Lucy Lee, Marsh Tracks Race Team broke away early in the race to gain a good advantage, but were bravely brought back by Katie Morgan, Marsh Tracks Race Team and Hannah Mcewan, Rhyl CC.  Megan out sprinted Lucy for first place, with Katy putting in a last minute sprint for third place. Elain Davies Clwb Beicio Dwyfor Cycling Club took the win on the Youth B girls.

Racing continued into the afternoon with the senior riders taking to the circuit, battling the wind on the finishing straight. Full results are available here.

It was a successful event organised by Marsh Tracks Race Team as part of the Project 2018 Race Series. The multi-discipline Series continues this weekend with round six incorporated in the Welsh Mountain Bike Series event at Builth Wells on Sunday 21 April.
