Amateur cyclists will have the chance to get closer than ever to The Tour of Britain experience this September, as The Tour Ride Wales switches to take place on Friday 14th September, the same day that Britain’s greatest cycle Tour races into South Wales.

The Tour Ride Wales will be an exclusive on-the-day ride opportunity for up to 300 cyclists to enjoy a full supported ride in and around Caerphilly, which includes the final 50-kilometres of Stage Six of The Tour of Britain that will finish in Caerphilly that afternoon.

Having taken on the all-important closing kilometres of Stage Six of The Tour during The Tour Ride, riders will then be able to sit back in front of the world famous backdrop of Caerphilly Castle in a reserved viewing area alongside the finish.

“The Tour Ride Wales is an exciting opportunity for keen cyclists to have an unforgettable experience at The Tour of Britain,” said Race Director Mick Bennett.  “They can expect the full Tour Ride experience in the morning, before being a part of The Tour of Britain stage finish in the afternoon, on what we expect to be the hardest stage of the race.”

In addition to the challenge of the SKODA King of the Mountains climb of Caerphilly Mountain, participants in The Tour Ride Wales will also tackle three other tough local climbs on the 93-kilometre route, including the Rhigos near Treherbert.

Riders in The Tour Ride receive support from The Tour’s Official Neutral Service provider Specialized, plus products from Official Suppliers Maxifuel, Soreen and Highland Spring, a Tour Ride medal and Goody Bag and a reserved viewing spot for the stage finish.

Entries to The Tour Ride Wales are open now, costing £35 and available via www.tourride.co.uk

More details of Stage Six of The Tour of Britain, which starts in Welshpool and finishes in Caerphilly, will be announced in the coming weeks.
