North West Wales' annual schools mountain bike competition

It has been busy few months in North West Wales where a number of regional mountain bike competitions where held across Anglesey, Gwynedd and Conwy in partnership with 5 x 60 and the Outdoor Partnership with support from Welsh Cycling

Almost 200 children took part in the first rounds, from over 14 schools across the counties. With sponsorship for these events coming from Antur Stiniog and Framed Cycles.

Winners from each county attended the final at Nant Bwlch yr Haearn.

The final held towards the end of June 2015 saw 42 youngsters taking part in a selection of mountain biking challenges. The event was generously sponsored by Evolution Cycles who are based in Bangor .

There were heats and finals for girls and boys from year 7 and 8 and also for year 9,10 and 11

Mark Jones, Gwynedd Outdoor Activity Development Officer said 'The event was enjoyed by all with great skills being demonstrated by the youngsters'

The help of many volunteers on the day ensured the smooth running of the competition.

The Outdoor Partnership would like to thank Nant Bwlch yr Hearn for allowing the event to be held on their site and all other sponsors and supporters who helped fund and run the event
