Josh Bryceland, Rachel Atherton and Laurie Greenland made it British domination at round five of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup downhill in Mont Sainte Anne, taking a clean sweep of men’s, women’s and junior races.

Bryceland claimed the first men’s downhill world cup win for a Brit in 2015, completing his comeback from an ankle injury sustained at the 2014 world championships, and a dislocated finger earlier this year.

Rachel Atherton took an astonishing fourth consecutive victory in the 2015 world cup and despite starting in wet conditions when her rivals raced mainly in the dry, Atherton still held a winning margin of over three seconds across the line.

Despite losing time at the mid-point of the track, where she made a mistake in the slick rock garden, she reestablished her gap on the lower slopes of the hill to take the win.

Her run of wins further solidifies her position as number one in the series, where she has won four out of five races this season – and finished second at the opening round back in April.

Away from the headline results, there was depth to another great display of British downhill talent as Manon Carpenter finished second and Tahnee Seagrave fourth, boosting them into third and fourth respectively in the series.

And in the junior men’s race Laurie Greenland destroyed the competition with a buffer of six seconds.

There will be a chance for Bryceland, Atherton, Carpenter, Seagrave and Greenland to continue their momentum next week, when the series continues in Windham, USA.
