With great pleasure, Cycle Coaching Wales is proud to announce the formation of a mountain bike team for the 2012 race season. The team is being managed by George Rose, and with generous support from a gathering of superb sponsors, will be seen competing at national and regional races across a variety of disciplines in the UK.

The team will be set apart from others with a focus to promote training information and details of sports science support using riders as case study examples offering information to the public about the demands of racing and the preparation required to succeed. Throughout the season, race reports, training details, bike fit and positional analyses, fitness assessments, nutritional support, and equipment reviews will be made available at .

The race programme focuses on the British and Welsh cross country MTB series, and National Championships. Riders will also tackle individual and team endurance events and a variety of other disciplines with ventures into the Welsh and British cyclo cross series in addition to regional and national road races.

Four riders form the core of the team. Ian Bendall will be racing in the Masters category as he continues his transition from a road background as a former Welsh international rider to build on the success of his first MTB season in 2011. Grant Leavy also rides the Masters category and will be looking to use his previous experience as an Elite MTB rider to compete at the forefront. Mark Davies heads up the Expert category and looks to build on his 2011 season whilst also exploiting his Cyclo Cross talents which have seen him finish in the top 3 of the Welsh Cyclo Cross series. George Rose will be making the transition from the Masters category to race in the Elite category for 2012. Occasional guest appearances will also be made by upcoming riders coached at Cycle Coaching Wales.

The team holds a philosophy of using only the highest quality products and has attracted generous support. Forza Cycles are supplying the excellent Orbea Alma29 Hardtail bikes. Pro Motion Dynamics continue the sports science theme by sharing their vast expertise in postural analysis and bike fits, whilst Mulebar fuels the riders with a wide selection of the tastiest and nutritionally effectual bars and gels made from 100% natural ingredients. Continental Tyres provide the all important rubber and final thanks go to IB Electrical for race support.
