Welsh Cycling is pleased to welcome Naomi Johnston to the role of Young Rider Development Officer South Wales.

The role of the Young Rider Development Officer is work with clubs, schools, local authorities and young people’s groups to develop the amount of young people riding their bikes on a regular basis.

Naomi said: "I’m thrilled to join Welsh Cycling and bring experience of coaching young riders. Having come through the Go-Ride system myself, I understand the importance of quality coaching from an early age and what impact this has on young people’s confidence and bike handling skills.

I’m looking forward to meeting the local clubs and young riders. There are lots of young riders in South Wales and I look forward to coaching these enthusiastic kids. As well as finding and nurturing new bike riders to the sport.

I’m a keen road and track cyclist having gone along to my first Go Ride session aged 7, I have ridden ever since. I raced as a teenager and now still ride as much as I can and enjoy getting on the track whenever I can!"

Naomi joins Welsh Cycling's team of developmemt officers, and will be based in South Wales supporting young riders.
