Summer has arrived in Wales, how do we know? Go-Ride racing is back! Clubs across Wales have been busy hosting Go-Ride races at events, and promoting their own local leagues.
Go-Ride at events
Aber Cycle Fest kicked off the flurry of events in May, with over a week of activitiesfor all abilities. Aber Cycle Fest, organised by Ystwyth CC and other partners, has been successfully growing over the years to a programme which now includes MTB ride, 10-mile time-trial, Go-Ride racing for Ceredigion pupils, the Pearl Izumi Tour Series, Downhill Racing, Hill Climb Knockout, Sportive and a series of Go-MTB races.
Go-Ride Grass Track
Towy Riders have started the South Wales Grass Track League at the United Counties Showground in Carmarthen on Friday evenings. Although some rounds have been hampered by the wet weatehr, numbers are growing each week. The Go-Ride races at the event were held on free wheel bikes whist other races were ridden on fixed wheel bikes.
Similarly, Hafren CC are hosting Freewheel Grass Track League in Powys. Club coach Paul Bufton helped to organise the 2015 league, which saw many new children get in to racing you can read more here. #GrassTrackFriday returns for 2016.
