New look Level 1 Award in Coaching Cycling to be delivered in Wales in March.

Following a successful pilot in England, the British Cycling course will now run in Wales for the first time at University South Wales Caerleon Campus in March. The course uses blended learning combining online learning with face-to-face delivery methods.

The online component is delivered through British Cycling’s new virtual learning environment, British Cycling Learning. Followed by the face-to-face development day followed by an assessment day a week later.

The online modules cover everything from coaching and reflection, to equipment and safe practice. Each module contains interactive and animated content, as well as videos and questions to engage the learners.

Welsh Cycling Workforce Officer, Alistair Waldron is looking forward to the new course, “I think having the revamped course available is a significant step forward. The newly developed approach which is very heavily learner centred will make it a great entry point for new coaches. With Level 1 coaches being able to deliver Go Ride sessions I envisage it will be very popular with our Go Ride clubs.”
