Rachel and Gee Atherton continued their domination of downhill mountain biking by successfully defending their national championships in Wales.

Rachel Atherton (GT Factory Racing) won the senior women’s event at Rhyd-Y-Felin in a time of 3:38.810, over seven seconds clear of Manon Carpenter (Madison Saracen Downhill Team) in second.

Jess Stone (Unior Tools Team) completed the podium 24 seconds back from Atherton.

Brother Gee matched the achievement in the senior men’s competition winning in 3:22.016 ahead of Joseph Smith (ChainReactionCycles.com/Nukeproof) with Greg Williamson (Trek World Racing) third.

The duo has won UCI Mountain Bike World Cup rounds at Fort William, Scotland and Val di Sole, Italy and lead their respective world rankings.
