West Wales Cycle Racing Team are first club to gain Go Ride Clubmark and InSport accreditation

Welsh Cycling congratulates West Wales Cycle Racing Team (WWCRT) in becoming the first cycling club in Wales to successfully complete the Go-Ride Clubmark accreditation and gain InSport Ribbon status from Disability Sport Wales.  

Anne Adams-King Chief Executive at Welsh Cycling presented Dawn Tarling, Chair of West Wales Cycle Racing Team with the award at their Friday night training session in Aberporth.

“It’s fantastic to see cycling clubs in Wales growing and adapting to the needs of their members. West Wales Cycle Racing Team provide many opportunities for their youth members, with a thriving calendar of events covering all disciplines of the sport. To also achieve the InSport Ribbon Award from Disability Sport Wales demonstrates their commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for any young person.”

Gemma Cutter Disability Sport Wales Development Officer said: “It’s great to see clubs are coming forward, keen to gain this prestigious accreditation to show they are committed to being inclusive within their clubs.

This is the beginning of a journey for them and I’m looking forward to seeing the clubs working through the tier of awards and ultimately providing quality opportunities for disabled people. “

The Go-Ride programme provides a fun and safe way to introduce young riders to the world of cycle sport and provides a platform to improve bike handling skills.

West Wales Cycle Racing Team have a wide variety of coaching sessions across Ceredigion. The addition of Disability Sport Wales InSport Ribbon Award recognises the clubs commitment to provide an inclusive and supportive environment for any young person wanting to try the sport of cycling. The West Wales Cycle Racing Team currently has 85 members, 50 of which are under 14 years old, with sessions delivered throughout the year at traffic free facilities thereby offering a safe environment for people to try cycling.
