Women's cycling continues to rise across Wales, and a dedicated coached session will be held on Saturady 11 October 2014 at Carmarthen Velodrome for femalw riders aged 16+, supported by Swansea University and Welsh Cycling. The session is aimed for novice ladies who would like to initially ride on an outdoor velodrome but also to develop confidence in riding in a group.

This session will be the first of many to develop skills. The session although run on the velodrome will be for freewheel bikes. Participants are asked to bring their own bikes that are in good working order.

Session will not be performance related. They will be skills based and suitable for beginners rather than advanced riders.

The session, organised by Aled Jones, is aimed to increase the confidence and ability of female riders to ride in a group. This will lead onto various activities such as social rides, training and racing in the future. The demand from female riders in the area has grown and alternative opportunities are needed to develop skills. The facilities on offer at Carmarthen Outdoor Velodrome provide a fantastic opportunity to train in a traffic free environment.

The session will be held 3.00pm until 5.00pm on Saturday 11 October 2014. Due to limited spaces, advanced booking is recommended by contacting Aled Jones, South West Wales Cycling Development Officer, enquiries@wecyclewales.org or 07725 639662. There will be a nominal cost for the activities.

Welsh Cycling continues to support the growth of women's cycling, and is currently piloting the British Cycling Breeze programme in South Wales.
