Want to develop your mountain bike skills this spring? Welsh Cycling invites Youth A and B riders to take part in a selection of Wiggle Project 2018 activities between April and June.

Welsh Cycling invite youths from the Junior (1996/1997) Youth A (1998/1999) and Youth B (2000/2001) categories to apply for the spring mountain bike program. Activities are tailored for supporting athletes into a pathway towards Gold Coast 2018 and beyond.


Residential Camps
A monthly residential camp where participants will endure a schedule of skills and lifestyle activities designed to prepare youths for life as a professional mountain bike athlete.

All Wales Led Rides
A program of activities where participants will benefit from skills and lifestyle coaching designed to better prepare youths in competition skills and for life as a professional athlete. Participating youths will need the physical ability to endure a full days riding activity, including led trail rides followed by an afternoon of skills coaching.

Regional Led Rides
A weekly program of activities where participants will benefit from skills and lifestyle coaching designed to better prepare youths in competition skills and for life as a professional athlete. Participating youths will need the physical ability to endure a fast and technical trail ride (‘Black’ grade),

Youth A (1998/1999)
Youth B 2nd Year (2000)

Riders need to be:

  • Junior, Youth A or Youth B category (birth year as specified above for each activity)
  • Welsh eligible
  • British Cycling members
  • Racing at a minimum of regional level (Welsh Mountain Bike Series/Championships)

Athletes wishing to join the Wiggle Project 2018 Mountain Bike activities for the first time should complete and return the application form by Friday 28 March 2014.

Existing participants should complete the activity form by Friday 28 March 2014.
