Welsh Cycling is looking for expressions of interest from individuals who would be interested in being part of the new Development Commission in Wales.

The commission will help to steer and advise the governing body on the planning, delivery and monitoring of the development areas of the Welsh Cycling strategy.

We are looking to appoint individuals with an interest in sports development, and to create a commission that has the right balance of expertise in development, including the range of cycling disciplines in Wales, representing our diverse range of clubs, and also to promote cycling to under-represented groups (for example, women and ethnic minorities).

The role will involve attending quarterly meetings for the commission, and advising on our development programme.

The successful applicants should have a passion for the promotion of cycling in all its disciplines, and desire to increase participation in Wales. They should also have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • An understanding of sports development
  • Cycling club structure
  • Engaging with, or a passion to promote cycling to under-represented groups
  • Experience of one or more cycling disciplines

In order to apply for a place on this commission, please outline your reasons for applying, what you feel you could bring to the role, and your relevant experience. This should be sent to Georgina Harper, National Development Manager by email Georgina.harper@welshcycling.co.uk

The closing date for expressions of interest is 5pm, Wednesday 12 February 2014. Successful applicants will then be invited to an informal interview, currently scheduled for 17 to the 19 February 2014.  The first commission meeting is planned for Monday 24 February 2014.
