Entries are now open for the 2013 Welsh Team Sprint and Team Pursuit Championships taking place on Saturday, 16 February 2013 at Wales National Velodrome, Newport.
Competition has been brought early in the season, to enable riders to compete for a home Championship following winter training.
The event is being organised by Garrie Tillett, an experienced coach and event organiser, in conjunction with Welsh Cycling.
Hannah Pole, Events Officer for Welsh Cycling, says it’s set to be a great event: “Welsh Cycling is working hard to raise the quality of its Welsh Championships for everyone involved. Ultimately we want riders and voluteers to go away having shared a great experience of racing that is fun, competitive, safe and well-organised.
“We've been consulting with clubs and riders, and from that we recognise there is demand for competition coming out of winter training. This is the perfect opportunity for riders to put training into practice in a fun, team event.
“Garrie is an experienced organiser, and we’re working hard to put all the logistics in place to make this a fantastic Championships to be part of next year.”
The team pursuit distance will be 3km in teams of four.
Special highlights may be included in the event, including a possible demonstration ride by upcoming talented riders. More details will follow soon.
Spectators are invited to come and catch the action, and refreshments will be available.
