East Newport Cycle Speedway Club recently raced away in two pre season challenge matches at East Park Wolves.

The East End 8 Neil Power, Simon Bendon, Andy Cobley, Ben Mould, Matt Davis, Aaron Herbert, Aaron Hughes, & Dan Bock put out a good display before going down in a close fort match 92 - 86.

All the riders showed that they have been working hard over the winter months on there fitness in what will be a very busy year for the Clubmark/Goride Welsh outfit as they enter for the first time the prestigious British Premier League.

Unfortunately for the East Enders both Andy Cobley, & Matt Davis suffered bad falls resulting in Davis having hospital treatment and putting him out of action for up to 6 weeks, on the + side both Aaron Hughes & Dan Bock picked up joint man of the match, these two youngsters were backed up very well by there remaining team mates.

Next up was the Combination match which was raced over 18 heats and not the normal 13 heats.

The East Newport line up included two new additions in the shape of Ethan Greenslade from Swindon & Joe Avery from Exeter, both riders put in solid displays scoring 17 & 17+2 respectfully. Man of the match Tudor Coombes had his best team match by far scoring 13, giving the crowd plenty of entertainment along the way, Captain Josh Davis came home with a good 11+2, Rob Absalom 10+1 from 3 rides, Ieuan Payne showed great effort for his 5 points , Adam Bennett recovered well after coming home in 4Th position in his first race scored 8+1 & finally Corey B Jones showed it wont be long before he will be fighting for a first team spot scoring 18+1.
