Event: 21 July 2012

The second staging of the Reading Grand Prix takes place Saturday with a top class field assembled for a mixture of sprinting and endurance events.

Organisers Tricyclesports.co.uk have extended the deadline to take entries on the line because of the disruption caused to the racing programme of riders by the continuing poor weather.

Sign on at Palmer Park is from 11am with racing starting at 12noon with the qualifying 200m rides for the National Sprinters League.

Kenny Ayre, who led the series before the weekend's round at Herne Hill, is a confirmed entry along with a clutch of other contenders for the overall prize, including Scotland's Bruce Croall.

The women's only derny race will see multi world age group masters champion Janet Birkmyre take on last year's winner Corrine Hall and other young contenders.

Highlight for the men's endurance riders, with National Hard Track League leader John McClelland in the field, will be the winner takes all 20k scratch race, incorporating the Central Division 20k championship.

McClleland's Prestige team will lock horns with local favorites AW Cycles.co.uk in the men's team pursuit, again featuring the Central Division championship.

The programme also includes a Course De Prime, men's and women's keirin and Devil Take the Hindmost.

The Lady Mayor of Reading will present the prizes around 5pm with over £500 on offer plus vouchers from supporting sponsors AW Cycles.
