The British National Madison Championships will take place on Saturday 28th January 2012 at Manchester’s National Cycling Centre before the season finale of the Revolution Series that evening, creating a whole day of thrilling race action.

In a similar format to the last two years, the Madison Championships will take place in a special afternoon slot before the Revolution event. The showcase Madison Championship race will once again feature some of the UK's top elite riders battling it out in pairs for the national title. The afternoon programme will also host the sprint qualification rounds for Revolution that evening, giving the spectators the chance to see world class sprinters from the UK and abroad in action alongside the Madison racing.

The National Madison Championships will take place between 13:00 and 16:00 with the final Revolution taking place in its usual evening slot from 19:00 to 22:00.

And before this double header takes place, the Revolution Series continues with the third round on Saturday 7th January. With the halfway point of the Championship now reached, the third event will be crucial as teams race to maximise their points before the final round. The competition can be lost by one bad night on the boards so there is everything to play for, even for the teams lower down the table.

The New Year means a new cycling season and so several riders will be moving between the pro teams. Team Sky loses the track experience of Russell Downing and Steven Burke will depart the UK Youth team. With new recruits also arriving, such as Luke Rowe to Team Sky, these transfers will add an extra dimension to the team Championship. Also featuring in the team line-up will be a host of top Six Day specialists from all over Europe which should make for some unpredictable and exciting racing.

Tickets for both Revolution events and the Madison Championships are available to buy now from Quay Tickets online (www.quaytickets.com) or by calling 0843 208 0500. Madison tickets are priced £6 for adults, £3 for concessions and £15 for families and must be purchased separately from the evening Revolution tickets.

ITV4 will be showing highlights of the third round on Monday 9th January 2012 at 19.00.

Rider entries for the Madison Championships are also open online on the British Cycling website, closing on Friday 28th December 2011. To enter, please visit www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/75764/BC-National-Madison-Championship
