World Road Race Champion and Tour de France Green Jersey winner Mark Cavendish will make a rare appearance on the track as he takes part in Revolution on Saturday November 19 at Manchester’s National Cycling Centre.

It will be Cavendish’s first competitive outing in the Velodrome since 2009 and also the first time the World Road Race Champion has graced the Manchester boards.

“Mark raced Revolution regularly in the early years so it is fantastic to welcome him back as the World Road Race Champion” commented Face Partnership’s James Pope. “After such a fantastic year on the road the Revolution crowd are going to provide a hero’s welcome to Cav so it will be a special evening.”

Cavendish will have his work cut out in the racing with multiple track champions also confirmed to race. Team Sky will be fielding Olympic Champion Geraint Thomas along with Pete Kennaugh and Alex Dowsett, who put on a spectacular race performance at the opening Revolution on October 29. Rapha Condor Sharp will feature Olympic Champion Ed Clancy and European Champion Andy Tennant and UK Youth’s Steven Burke will be joined by former Paris-Roubaix winner Magnus Backstedt.

Guest international riders will include Franco Marvulli and Iljo Keisse, who has come off the back of winning the Amsterdam and Grenoble six day races.

There are limited tickets remaining and details can be found on www.cyclingrevolution.com. TV highlights will be broadcast on ITV4 at 19:00 on Monday 21 November.
