Alternative transport for Mildenhall Cycling Rally riders

Mildenhall Cycling Club have announced details of an alternative way to travel to their nationally acclaimed Mildenhall Cycling Rally.

Anyone living within the 165-mile route travelled by Yorkshire Bikeliner from Hull to Mildenhall can take advantage of a £15.00 return fare for them, their cycle and any luggage.

Yorkshire Bikeliner run bespoke package holidays and short duration trips using their own coach and unique custom-built bicycle trailer. This means cycles of all types and sizes can be accommodated without any need to dismantle them before being transported securely and covered.

Simon Hawksley from Bikeliner said: "I will be leaving Hull at about 4pm on Friday 26th and will drive along the M18, A1 and A14 route to Mildenhall in Suffolk. I am prepared to pick up and set down anywhere along that route. I would hope to arrive in Mildenhall at about 8pm.

"I will depart on Monday immediately after the close to drive back to Hull by the same, but reverse, route."

The organisers of the rally are very excited to be able to offer this alternative, especially with the price of fuel rocketing in these tight economic times.

"Not only does it offer another service to those coming to the rally enabling our visitors to leave their car at home, it's far more environmentally friendly and means we don't have to accommodate so many vehicles on site," explained Mark Burchett from the organising cycling club.

In conjunction with this, the organisers are encouraging visitors from other parts of the country to share vehicles and help reduce their own costs. They have provided a feature on their website to facilitate this.

The festival of cycling, which is celebrating its 25th year, will take place over the August bank holiday weekend (Saturday 27th - Monday 29th August 2011) at the town's Riverside Middle School.

"As expected, with this year being a special anniversary, there has been even more interest in staying on the Rally site. Bookings for camping & caravans are going extremely well, with less than a 100 pitches left and still two months to go before the event," outlined Mark Burchett.
