Reading, 20 July 2009: UK based track cycling team Team Terminator unveiled its new kit design, sponsors and rider line-up prior to Round 12 of Reading Track League on Monday night. Inspired by former team backer Magnus Backstedt – nicknamed The Terminator in the pro peloton – the new kit builds on the previous popular design, but if anything the new all black kit is even more intimidating than the previous grey design.

The new sponsor line-up includes sports nutrition company Reflex Nutrition, specialist track coaching outfit Fast Track Coaching, routes to market consultancy VIA International, engineering consultancy Ricardo and cycling clothing manufacturer Vitesse. Staying with the team for the 2009-10 track season are multiple European and National Masters champion and Directeur Sportif, Lee Povey, GB Academy rider and former Junior World Team Sprint champion Peter Mitchell, Olympic Talent Team Sprinter John Paul, Mark Burgess, Martin McCrossan, GB paralympian Simon Richardson and Sam Sturgeon.

Joining the existing line up are some exciting young sprinters – former Talent Team rider Sam Serruya, Tom Sparkes who has recently taken up the sport after a successful career as a professional rugby player and BSCA Under 16 National Champion Cam Swarbrick – as well as the team’s first female rider Mollie Baker who recently made the switch from road to track and Paul Davidoff. Last, but far from least, multiple World, European and National Masters Champion, former GB Olympic team member and British outright cycle speed record holder, David Le Grys.

Michael White of sales and marketing consultancy VIA International added "With the success of the GB team in the World Championships over the last two or three years and, particularly, the Olympics, we were keen to get involved in the sport. Team Terminator’s mix of up and coming young riders and Masters Champions was exactly what we were looking for."

Speaking about trackcycling’s involvement with the team, owner Steve Masters said "Lee Povey has been contributing coaching articles to the site for some time and we’ve already announced that we will be working closely with the team on our expanded product reviews section. We think it’s important that products for track cyclists are reviewed by track cyclists, not by journalists who haven’t competed at a high level. Sponsoring the team was a logical extension of that involvement."

Fast Track Coaching – a partnership set up by Lee Povey and David Le Grys to provide coaching events for track cyclists of all levels – will be working closely with the team supporting their track clinics. David says “we are proud and motivated about working with this exciting young team and see it as a great opportunity to advertise our business”. Engineering specialists Ricardo, long time supporters of Pete Mitchell and are extending that backing to cover the team and Reflex Nutrition – already suppliers of sports nutrition products – are also increasing their involvement.

New clothing provider Vitesse, run by former British pro Richard Smith, are also providing support to the team. Talking about their aims for the coming season, Directeur Sportif Lee Povey said "We have a number of goals. Dave Le Grys and I have titles to defend at next week’s European Track Championships; Pete Mitchell will be riding at the Revolution Series and, hopefully, in the World Cup Series with the GB Academy and some of the younger riders – particularly John Paul – are strong contenders for titles at the Youth Nationals and at the forthcoming UK Schools Games. Hopefully there will be the odd track league title on top of that.  We have already started the success with my National Masters Sprint jersey, Pete Mitchell’s Silver in the European under 23 Team Sprint and Cam Swarbrick’s BSCA National title, and we feel there is definitely more to come."
