Sir Chris Hoy is well positioned to win the Six Days of Rotterdam sprint competition despite Great Britain colleague Jason Kenny reducing his overall lead on the penultimate evening of action.
Wins for British Cycling Olympic Podium Programme rider Hoy in the team sprint then the keirin mean the Scotsman has a three point gap to Kenny, who triumphed in the individual sprint.
The evening began with the two-man team sprint and the parings, as they have done through the competition, rotated. Hoy partnered with sprint world champion Gregory Bauge to narrowly defeat Kenny and Dutchman Teun Mulder.
Kenny then qualified faster than Hoy in the individual sprint, before the 24-year-old disposed of Bauge in the semi-finals, but a loss for Hoy to Mulder denied the six-time Olympic champion the chance of a 100% record on the night.
Bolton-born Kenny saw off Mulder in the major final whilst a late burst from Hoy was enough for third against Bauge. Hoy made amends in the keirin, winning from Kenny then Mulder and Bauge to uphold his overall lead with one night remaining.
