British Cycling can announce the Great Britain Cycling Team to compete at the 2018 UEC Track Juniors & Under-23 European Championships.

The event takes place in Aigle, Switzerland from 21-26 August 2018.

More information about the event can be found on the UEC website including live images and results are available via Veloresults.

Performance pathway manager Tom Stanton said: “The UEC Junior and Under 23 European Track Championships present an invaluable opportunity for our pathway riders to gain experience and develop the necessary qualities to compete on the international stage.

“These championships form part of the wider journey towards Olympic success, and while podium results are always great to see, I’m more interested in seeing the riders showing their potential, learning about operating as a team and maximising their time spent with the support staff.

“Aigle – the home of the UCI – is now the venue for the event, and the velodrome there is 200m, as opposed to the 250m track the riders are used to racing on, so this will be a test of their technical skills and their ability to adapt to change.

“For our four junior sprinters, this race falls at the end of a heavy racing block for them. They enjoyed a successful national championships at the end of last month during which we saw some really promising results and performances, and they are now preparing for the junior world championships which also take place in Aigle the week before the European championships. This is a great chance for them to learn to manage their recovery and to stay focussed in between races.”
