Alex Joliffe won keirin gold to add to his sprint title on the final day of the 2016 British Cycling Youth and Junior Track Championships.

Team Terminator’s Joliffe saw off the challenges of Cameron Thomson and Hamish Turnbull who took silver and bronze respectively in the junior men’s final at the Derby Arena.

In the junior men’s points race, Matthew Walls took gold with 26 points, one clear of Lewis Martin and Joseph Nally.

All three riders gained a lap and won one of the six sprints in the 50-lap race, but a crucial point gained on sprint three proved vital for Walls.

Scratch gold for Roberts

Jessica Roberts of Liv CC- Epic Coaching was crowned junior women’s scratch race champion. Roberts crossed the line ahead of Sophie Williams and Rachel Jary who were second and third respectively.

The under-16 male scratch race was won by Charley Calvert with Ethan Vernon second and Alistair Fielding third.

In the under-16 female pursuit, Elynor Backstedt triumphed with victory over Ellie Russell in the final. Backstedt set a time of 2.28.608 to Russell’s 2.32.270.

Pfeiffer Georgi won bronze with a ride in 2.34.714 to Anna Docherty’s time of 2.37.138.
