Archibald and Skinner triumph at Dudenhofen Grand Prix

Great Britain Cycling Team’s Callum Skinner and Katie Archibald were victorious at the Dudenhofen Grand Prix in Germany.

British champion Skinner, 23, won the sprint ahead of Germany’s Maximilian Levy at the outdoor track which hosted racing on the 28-29 August.

Archibald triumphed in the omnium on 246 points, just three points ahead of teammate Laura Trott who collected silver. Manon Lloyd was ninth.

Skinner also won silver in the keirin, crossing the line behind Stefan Botticher.

Mark Cavendish finished third in the men’s omnium behind Roger Kluge and Kenny De Ketele as the Manxman secured qualification points that will allow him to compete in the UCI Track Cycling World Cup and keep his options open ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Jon Dibben was fifth.

In the women’s sprint Katy Marchant was once again in the medals as she took silver behind world champion Kristina Vogel with Becky James fifth as she continues her return from injury.

Twenty-two-year-old Marchant won a second medal with bronze in the 500m time trial.

In the keirin, James was fourth with Marchant fifth.
