Britain’s Alex Dowsett has announced his plans to attempt the UCI Hour Record at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester on Saturday 2 May.

The Commonwealth Games time trial champion was set to take on the challenge in February but a broken collarbone sustained in training in January forced the 26-year-old to postpone the effort.

“I'm thrilled to be back on track to attempt the perfect hour,” said Dowsett.

“Breaking my collarbone whilst in such good form was a real disappointment, but I healed 100% and didn't lose much form through it all."

The current record is held by Australian Rohan Dennis, who completed a distance of 52.491km on 8 February in Grenchen, Switzerland.

“Manchester will be a fantastic location and it'll be an honour for me to attempt the record on the same boards as Chris Boardman.”

Tickets for the #PerfectHour have yet to be released but will be available via See Tickets.
