The Great Britain Cycling Team won three gold medals as they dominated day two of the Newport Para-cycling International in Wales.
New pairing Lora Turnham and pilot Lauryn Therin began their partnership in style with victory in the women’s tandem pursuit.
Jon Gildea rode superbly to win the men’s C5 pursuit before Crystal Lane completed the gold rush in the C4-5 500m time trial.
Britain’s Liz Saul added bronze behind Lane, Jaco van Gass silver in the men’s C4 pursuit and Megan Giglia bronze in the women’s C1-3 500m time trial.
Louis Rolfe claimed bronze in the men’s C2 pursuit to take the Great Britain Cycling Team’s medal count to seven for Saturday’s racing – and earn vital Rio Paralympic qualifying points.
“We were happy with our time and a really positive performance, it was just shame there wasn't more competition and we weren't able to do two rides,” said Turnham after she and Therin caught the Dutch pairing of Anouk van Bommel and Sigrid Jochems.
“I was buzzing, super happy with that ride,” added Therin.
“It was Lora and I's first ride together and we put out a decent time and that sort of put the cat amongst the pigeons a little bit for what is to come.
“I think we could really build on that going forward so happy days.”
After qualifying fastest, Gildea also produced a catch - on Spaniard Pablo Jaramillo Gallardo in 1:47 0.49 - to secure his place on the top of the podium.
“It was really good fun,” Gildea said. “I’m happy with another PB.
“I think my effort...I'd of liked it to have been a bit more progressive in the qualifiers. My original plan was to ride for a time in the finals but I think he decided he wanted to catch me so my pacing went out of the window.
“I just went for it and caught him - I can look for the time another day.”
In the C4-5 women’s 500m time trial, Lane’s factored time of 38.419 seconds was over four seconds faster than Germany’s Kerstin Brachtendorf with Lane’s teammate Saul in third with a factored time of 44.400 seconds.
"I was pleased with the time," Lane said. "All things considered with the block of training I'm in - these are all building blocks towards the world championships."
The final day in Newport features racing in the men’s and women’s tandem sprint, the women’s C1-5 pursuit, men’s C1-5 kilo and men’s 10km scratch.
