The White Rose Classic

Date: 19th July 2009

IT'S ON FOR 2009!

Now in its fourth year, The White Rose Classic is firmly established as one of the cyclosportive season's 'must-do' events and a true classic in every sense of the word. A Licence Agreement has just been signed with Kudu Bikes of Hawes who are themselves no strangers to event promotion. Kudu will organise the event using the successful template of 2006 to 2007.

The event will be going ahead with a more northerly start in Hawes with a slightly altered route keeping the whole thing within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

There are 3 route distances to choose from, offering something for riders of all abilities. All three distance options will have at least two of the National Parks major climbs, and the longer option will have all the best ones starting with the nice warm up climb past Garsdale Station and over into Dentdale.

The other significant climbs on this route are the Climb out of Dent into Kingsdale, a nice pull up out of Stainforth to reach Malham Tarn just to warm up for Park Rash. After this things calm down before the steady pull up out of the scenic Castle Bolton, up Arkengarthdale to Tan Hill then over Butter Tubs to finish. What else would you do on a Sunday?

The Hardest option for the White Rose Classic 2009 is shorter than in the past but quite possibly harder. It is 102 miles long with over 12725 ft of ascent. The Medium option with a nice leisurely finish riding up Wensleydale is 84 miles with 9913 ft of ascent. The Shorter option finishes with the famous Fleet Moss and is 69 miles with 8333 ft of ascent. None of the options are "easy" so please be prepared for this, but we will be fully supporting all riders including feed stations and fully signed routes.

There will also be the options for a pre - event breakfast and a post event meal so food should not be a concern.
