The Roses Round
Date: 14th June 2009
"The Roses Round Cyclosportif: a challenging ride combined with activities to entertain the whole family.
The Roses Round takes place on Sunday June 14th, starting from Tosside village hall near Clitheroe, Lancashire.
There are 2 routes: the longer route is approximately 75 miles whilst the shorter route is closer to 35 miles. Helmets are strongly recommended due to the steep descents found on the course.
The start location, on the edge of Gisburn Forest, will have a range of activities for children and family members including short orienteering courses for families to ride or walk from the village hall and maps are available for free from registration. You can then 'chill out' in the cafe afterwards!
The route will be marked with signs and road markings and there are 2 food stops on the long route and one on the short route. Start times are between 8.30am and 10.00am, you choose your own start time but a maximum of 15 riders are able to start every 4 minutes. Slower riders should start early to account for the extra time required to complete the distance and faster riders should start towards the end of the field to avoid early arrival at feedstops. Cost is 15.00GBP and includes BC insurance.
This event is for anyone who enjoys challenging cycle routes. It will also provide you with the ideal opportunity to explore the beauty of Lancashire and Yorkshire. Minimum age for the event is 16 years. This event is fully insured via British Cycling.
