The return of The Dark Peak

This popular Wakefield Hospice Sportive: The Dark Peak is returning again in 2014 and is set to be even bigger and better.

This extreme challenge has three routes starting in Wakefield and taking on highlights of this year’s Tour de France day two route.

Challengers will head out of Wakefield to Holme Moss before taking on The Strines and Snake Pass.  The 72 mile course is an extremely challenging route offering a unique combination of infamous south and west Yorkshire climbs.

The sportive also offers a 45 miles route which includes Holme Moss.

The event will provide the following:

  • Support Vehicles – including mechanics to get you back on the road where possible
  • Chip Timing
  • Feed stations
  • Event photography
  • Free parking and changing facilities

This event begins and ends at luxurious Nuffield Health Gym in Wakefield. All participants are welcome to use the club facilities after the event.

Places in this year’s race are very limited.

This event is raising money for hospice care in Wakefield and last year raised more than £16,000 funding 37 hours of hospice care here in Wakefield.

This is a professional event set up, chip timing is provided, as well as well stocked feed stations along the routes and back up mechanical support, event photography and T-shirts for all finishers.
