The third event in Dark and White Cycling’s 2014 Try a Sportive Series takes place on Saturday 12 July from Foremark Reservoir near Ticknall, south Derbyshire.

The Try a Sportive Series supported by British Cycling offers great introductory/have a go road biking/sportive events.

The Foremark ride has a choice of two routes: 58km/36 mile long route with 588m/1976 feet of climb or a 34km/21 mile shorter route (391m/1238 feet) both being suitable for either novices/beginners or leisure road bikers wanting an easy, sociable and relaxing morning out in the countryside on quiet country lanes.

This event starts and finishes from Foremark Reservoir which is approximately five miles east of Burton-upon-Trent; for both routes the riding is principally on quiet, wide and smooth country roads and lanes – the terrain can best be described as gently rolling so this is definitely not a hilly or demanding ride.

The route is 90% through open fields and farmland and passes through a number of pretty villages as well as riding through parts of the National Forest in Leicestershire (long route only). For any non-riders, Foremark has some lovely walks plus an on-site cafe.

Registration opens at 8.00am and you can set off riding anytime between 8.30am and 10.00am. The finish closes at 1.00pm therefore giving you ample time to enjoy your ride!
