Tinkoff-Saxo, one of the world’s leading professional cycling teams is backing a sponsored cycle ride on Sunday, 27 April for Leonard Cheshire Disability and St Edward’s School in Oxford.

The charity which runs John Masefield House, a care home with nursing for disabled people at Burcot near Abingdon has teamed up with St Edward’s School for the Tinkoff-Saxo Teddies 2-Wheeler 2014 cycle ride raising essential funds for both.

The charity is calling on club and sportive riders in and around Oxford to join them, take part and raise funds.

The Tinkoff-Saxo Teddies 2-Wheeler is a fun cycling event for people of all ages and abilities and is ideal for everyone from a beginner to professional cyclists. All entrants will receive a Special Edition Tinkoff-Saxo Teddies 2-Wheeler cycling jersey, one of the world’s top pro-cycling teams.

With distances of 5, 50 and 100 miles to choose from, these are rides for all the family, as well as for experienced cyclists. All routes will start and finish at St Edward’s School, Woodstock Road. They will take in the spectacular surroundings of Oxfordshire, and will be fully mapped out, with guidance and support.

The charity was chosen as the school’s partner as John Masefield House has a close connection with the school.

Matt Smith, Leonard Cheshire Disability Sports Events Manager, said: “It is wonderful news that Tinkoff-Saxo will be supporting this superb event. With preparations well underway, we are very excited about being the chosen charity for the Tinkoff-Saxo Teddies 2-Wheeler 2014 and hope sportive enthusiasts across the UK will be able to join us at one of these events.

“We believe that everybody should be given the chance to take part in sports if they want to, whatever their abilities. We are hoping more than 200 people will join us, so why not sign up, get cycling and raise some funds for Leonard Cheshire Disability and St Edward’s School.”

Simon Palferman at Edward’s School, said: “We are delighted Leonard Cheshire Disability will be supporting us as part of the Tinkoff-Saxo Teddies 2-Wheeler.

“We have close connections with John Masefield House and recognise their valued work as part of the community supporting disabled people.”
