BayPoint in Sandwich are hosting a Cycling Sportive called BayPoint Coastal Classic in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to stopping women getting and dying from breast cancer.

BayPoint is going to host the Ridestarting and finishing on their site, the old Pfizer social club. The Sportive is going to take place on 27 April at 9am and is hoping to raisehundreds of pounds for the charity’s life-saving work.

Sam Perkins, from BayPoint, says,“We are so excited to be organising the BayPoint Coastal Classic Sportive. We want to make all sports aware that BayPoint can offer something to them. And with Cycling we want to encourage cyclists to use us as a hub on their rides; for instance pop in and have a bacon sandwich on a break in the middle of their coastal ride. To build this ideal, with the help of Locks of Sandwich, British Cycling and Breakthrough Cancer Charity, we have organised a wonderful Sportive. We expect a fabulous day of cycling, fundraising, hot meals and a great family vibe.”

Kerry Rubins, Community Fundraising Executive Officer at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, says: “We wish BayPoint every success for the Ride and hope that the residents of East Kentcome out in force to support. It’s a sad fact that breast cancer is still the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK, killing 1,000 women every month.

"Everyone at Breakthrough Breast Cancer is dedicated to ensuring that more women survive breast cancer; but we cannot continue our vital work without the help of inspiring supporters like BayPoint.”

The need for Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s work has never been greater; it’s a disease that affects more and more women every year. The charity was the first of its kind to set up a dedicated breast cancer research centre when no others existed.

Funding more than 270 world-class scientists, Breakthrough is dedicated to saving lives through improving early diagnosis, developing new treatments and preventing all types of breast cancer.
