Event: 9 March 2014

Following the success of the Via Roma Summer Sportive in 2013 we have added the spring event to the calendar. Following the format of last year’s event there will again be two routes to choose from, a relaxed 40 mile “stroll” and a more ambitious 70 mile “challenge”, a perfect distance to stretch the legs in preparation for the summer sportive season.

Again, these events will not be timed, the objective of the day being to enjoy the ride with friends and take in the picturesque scenery and countryside. This year, the routes take you into the stunning Gloucestershire Cotswold villages of Southrop and Bibury before either returning to Cricklade or heading into the Stroud hills for the second part of the route, returning via the ancient town of Tetbury.

Throughout the ride there will be mechanical support on hand in the means of a “broom wagon” provided by Ride 24/7 and there will be two well stocked feed stations, one on the shorter route and two on the longer. Venues for these are to be confirmed but we have something unusual and special in mind, in keeping with the spirit of the event. All pre-entered riders will also receive a free goodie bag at the end of the event, again provided by our sponsors, Ride 24/7.

The HQ for the event will once again be the Cricklade Leisure Centre where changing, showers and parking will be provided, along with a hot drink and a roll after the ride. Further to this, refreshments will be able to be purchased from the bar and cafe at the facility.

So if a relaxed springtime ride through the beautiful Cotswold countryside, taking in some of the ancient towns and villages that the area has to offer sounds like it could be up your street then don’t hesitate and enter today.
