If a relaxing ride back in time on ancient Roman roads in the picture perfect Cotswolds is your idea of sportive heaven, then September’s Via Roma sportive, with a choice of agreeable 40 and 80 mile routes and a deliberate ‘no timing chips’ policy, might be right up your street.

This is your chance to take part in the Via Roma Sportive on 29 September, taking in the breath-taking views of the Cotswolds. You will be guided round some Historic Roman Roads which give exposure to some of the most beautiful villages in the Cotswold.

There will be two routes to choose from, including an 80 mile route and a 40 mile route with two well stocked feed stations. Both Feed stations will be in Beautiful Costwold Village halls where you will be able to take shelter, grab a hot beverage and take a call of nature! The Feed Stations will be stocked with Sport Nutritional products supplied and supported by “Power Bar”

Although the routes are slightly shorter than a usual Sportive they have been designed by two very experienced cyclists who know these roads like the back of their hand. They have been designed to offer some varied terrain but fundamentally give the rider and amazing day out taking in the best the Cotswolds have to offer. You will find yourself cycling through spectacular countryside with minimal amount of disruption from motorists feeling like you have stepped back in time.

There will be Goodie Bags for all advanced entries and these will be supplied by “Ride 24/7” bike shop.

There will be no timing offered at this event. This event is all about enjoying the day out and taking in the views with friends. Organisers want riders to enjoy a day out on the bike without the stress of thinking about time. It’s all about having a fun day out - not to say the Cotswolds won’t offer the odd challenge!

There will be experienced cycle mechanics on hand before and during the event to ensure you get underway with zero issues and making sure that for anyone that is unfortunate to have a problem on route organisers will be a phone call away to come to your assistance.

In an effort to encourage women to take part organisers will provide women’s specific facilities at both feed stations and female ride leaders if demand proves sufficient.
