The Suffolk Villages Cycle Ride takes place every year in June. This popular and established ride for charity offers cycling at its best through glorious Suffolk countryside and quaint villages and this year will take place on the 23rd June 2013. In this article friends Elizabeth and Sarah, from Mid Suffolk, talk about their experiences of this popular ride for charity which raises much appreciated funds for the British Heart Foundation and Stowmarket Lions charities.

We first entered the Suffolk Villages Cycle Ride in 2008, the first year it took place, and have participated every year since. It was my Dad (Elizabeth’s Dad) who first suggested we enter the cycle ride – he can be ‘very persuasive’. He’s a founder member of the Stowmarket Lions voluntary organisation and has raised far in excess of a hundred thousand pounds towards charitable causes.

"We really enjoy the ride which is challenging and helps with our fitness but also a fun and rewarding experience. All the routes are very scenic and pass through pretty villages along quiet country roads and. lanes."

We really enjoy the ride which is challenging and helps with our fitness but also a fun and rewarding experience. All the routes are very scenic and pass through pretty villages along quiet country roads and. lanes. We find the routes clearly marked so it’s easy to follow and the marshals stationed around the course give their encouragement to weary riders.

The feed stations dotted around the ride offer welcome opportunities for us to ‘refuel’ along the way and we also find the refreshments available at the start/finish location convenient for further nourishment.

So, if you fancy a challenge then give this popular and well organised charity cycle ride a go – it’s all for very worthwhile causes!

Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or just want to give a sportive a try why not join us on this year’s Suffolk Villages Cycle Ride on the 23rd June 2013. There are three scenic routes to suit all abilities from novice to the experienced sportive rider.

Each of the three routes are clearly marked with colour coded signs - marshal points, travelling marshal, feed stations, first aid and cycle mechanic facilities. Refreshments are also available at the start/finish location.

Come and join us for a great day out and accept the challenge for the British Heart Foundation and Lions charities.
