The SCHWALBE MTB Marathon & Sportive Series 2013 powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport
For 2013 the MTB-Marathon Series has partnered up with long standing supporters SCHWALBE Tyres and Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport to bring four exciting events to the marathon and sportive calendar.
For years a loyal partner to the series, SCHWALBE Tyres have stepped up to be the new title sponsor to the events and to bring new and fresh ideas to the marathons.
Launched in 2000 the MTB-Marathons started off as one event but has developed into a series of 4 events where riders can choose between 3-4 MTB courses as well as two road sportive rides.
Besides having a new title sponsor on board the other big change is that the running order of activities will change for 2013. With the exception of the 1st round on Builth Wells which will host the Exposure Light Big Night Out (ELBNO) night marathon on Saturday night followed by the main marathons on Sunday morning all other rounds will have the MTB rides on Saturday and the Road rides on Sunday.
Over those three weekends the event and the registration will open on Friday evening with the MTB-Marathons starting at 10am on Saturday morning. When the riders come over the line the event bar, live music and catering will be waiting for them in the event village to bring their hard day in the saddle to a relaxed finish. Sunday will then see the road riders come out in force to tackle one of the two challenging sportive courses on offer.
As in the past there will be a ‘weekend’ ticket available which offers great discounts for the people who are keen to take part in both activities over the event weekend. But on top of that we will have a family ticket where young riders between 12 and 15 years ride the mini of half marathon for free if they are accompanied by a paying adult. First round of the SCHWALBE MTB-Marathon Series only a month away!
The 1st round will be based at the Royal Welsh Showground in the birthplace of MTB-Marathons in Builth Wells and will take place on the 13-14th April 2013.
As in the last few years the season opener will start the MTB-Marathon season off with the EXPOSURE LIGHTS BIG NIGHT OUT Night Marathon.
An approx. 44km long course is waiting for the riders which will be ridden pretty much entirely at night. The ELBNO makes for a very atmospheric start to the series and is for many riders the highlight of their spring/summer riding season. Following the Saturday night activities will be the Spring marathon which offers 3 different course lengths so that beginner and seasoned marathon rider alike can find the perfect challenge for the day.
