With registrations looking to exceed the 1200 rider target, momentum is building for the second Bike Bath event running over the weekend 22-23 June.
The introduction of a 20 mile ride sponsored by Bath based Cyclescheme, alongside longer 60 and 100 distances means that the event has even stronger appeal to aspiring commuters, novice riders and youngsters. Routes will be announced in the next few weeks and it is planned that all the Saturday rides will pass through the soon to be opened Two Tunnels, Britain’s longest cycle tunnel. For those organising teams to enter an offer is running for 2 additional free places for every team of 10 entered.
Both local and national businesses are lining up to support the event with the organisers delighted to announce a new title sponsor, Charles Stanley Direct, who are inviting a number of their clients to become involved in the event. Announcing their involvement, Rob Hudson from Charles Stanley Direct stated,

The rides will start from the Recreation Ground on Saturday morning between 7 and 10am and a feature for this year’s rides will be feed stations along the routes supporting local food and drink suppliers. Katie, has been involved in organising a number of major cycling events in the past including the charity linked rides to theTour of Britain, she explained,
“This is a great opportunity to showcase and sample products to an active community so we are inviting suppliers to have their products featured at the event and have been overwhelmed by the interest. The food theme will continue after the ride with a post ride meal provided by Bath’s own Michelin starred chef, Rob Clayton. This is all part of our effort to support the local community which also includes local award winning illustrator, Simon Spilsbury, designing an exclusive Bike Bath ride certificate and Dr Ian Walker, a psychologist from Bath University talking at the road.cc Celebration of Cycling on the Saturday evening.”
The event is supporting over 30 charities and a number of short introduction rides are planned to encourage those who’ve not been on a bike for a while to check their equipment and hear from experts from the local cycle clubs. To support preparation plans, the team from Bath based Physioimpulse are offering some training tips. On the day, mechanics sponsored by Hampton’s International will check over bikes and out on the course riders will encounter the official photographer supported by BMW Wellsway.
