Event: 21 October 2012

In partnership with TryTri, Cycle Tours UK (CTUK) are starting a new and exciting Sportive, taking place in the heart of Hampshire on Sunday 21 October.

Starting and finishing at Sparsholt College on the outskirts of Winchester City, the chosen venue offers lots of parking and the canteen will be open for breakfast and lunch for that all important sustenance. The Sportive has a choice of 40km, 80km and 120km routes, all mapped onto the extensive network of quiet country roads in the area and suits every level of rider.

The primary objective of CTUK is to get people back out on the roads on those bikes that have been sitting in the garage or shed untouched for years, so that they can enjoy the outstanding scenery and sights in the area. Our guided and unguided tours offer such an opportunity and this Sportive adds to the every growing list of events CTUK is involved with.

Chris Dawson, Managing Director of Cycle Tours UK said;

“Over the years as we have become a car dominated society, we have lost the use of the bike as a regular means of transport. It is our mission at CTUK to try to reintroduce people back to the joys that cycling can bring. We understand that traffic volumes are a major disincentive to people cycling, however if they come out on the Sportive they will experience first hand how quiet some of our roads are”

Chris Rees the Managing Director of Trytri added;

“Trytri has been holding successful triathlon events for a few years now but we have always had the need to build our cycling training and expertise. Our partnership with Cycle Tours UK offers a great opportunity to do this and this Sportive is just the first event of many offering an excellent way to improve your cycling fitness and abilities”.

Registration takes place between 7-9am. The first wave of participants doing the 120km will set off at 8am. The routes will be signed with only minimal marshalling at critical junctions. The canteen at Sparsholt College will be open for breakfast and lunch in the afternoon as you will no doubt be working up an appetite! Please make sure to bring a helmet, spare inner tubes, energy food, warm clothes/wet weather clothes/change of clothes, some money and a huge slice of fun!

This event is for participants aged 14+ only.
