Rideout Motion in Mercia
Event: 8 January 2012
Location: Wolverhampton
Report: Kilo TO Go

One of the first reliability trials of the year and the first free to enter ‘Rideout’ of 2012 from KILO TO GO took place on 8 January in south Staffordshire and Shropshire.

Rideouts come in one of three flavours and this reliability trail definitely put the emphasis on reliability. Riders got their individual acts together, and with complementary tea or coffee, buttered Soreen malt loaf and some HIGH5 gels, 100 pre-entries set to the road in one of three groups at 15 minute intervals.

A lumpy but uncomplicated self-navigating course took riders out along Hugh Porter Way from the famous Aldersley Stadium in Wolverhampton. A 50 mile loop crossing the fast flowing River Severn at Coalport, picturesque Much Wenlock and crossing the Severn again at Bridgnorth on the return seemed to be enjoyed by just about everyone.

The weather couldn’t have been kinder for an early January reliability trial – organisers described conditions on the day as dry and mild with a light wind.

Rideout Motion in Mercia gives riders in training for their 2012 season an opportunity to sample some of the terrain in the big new Midlands sportive on April 15th – Wiggle Motion in Mercia where 100s of riders have already entered.
