Cycletta Unveils Routes for Women-Only Cycling Events

Posted: 21st June 2011

Cycletta, the women-only cycling events supported by Olympic and World Champion Victoria Pendleton, today unveiled the safe, traffic-free routes for the two inaugural events.

Sponsored by Sky Ride the Cycletta South event takes place on Sunday 11th September, centred at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire. The proposed 40km course, will start and finish in this famous Zoo, and take in Ivinghoe, Cheddington, Mentmore and Slapton. Along the route, riders will be supported with mechanics stations, feed stations and toilets and the traffic free roads will make the whole experience fun and enjoyable as well as a challenge.

The Cycletta North event on Sunday 2nd October is centred on Tatton Park, Manchester, close to the home of British Cycling and the velodrome where Victoria honed her cycling skills. The picturesque route takes in Ashley, New Mills and Little Warford and again provides riders with a challenge and support from mechanics, feed stations and toilets.

Jo Dytch of 'Participate', who launched Cycletta in early 2011, said:

'We are really excited to announce the Cycletta routes. We have worked hard to provide a traffic free environment for all taking part and are sure the events will provide a real experience for our women riders.

It is exciting to see the entries coming in ahead of our July 31st deadline and it has been hugely rewarding to see the community spirit amongst women riders with the more experiences women offering a lot of support for those less confident on two wheels. This can really be seen through Cycletta's Facebook and Twitter activity.'
