UPDATED: 11th Jan 2010: Due to overwhelming demand for further places on the 2010 Verenti Dragon Ride and the logistical challenge of processing extra entries quickly and efficiently, organisers BreakAway Cycling have decided to postpone the release of 300 more places until: Monday 18th January 2010 at 09.00

After a year which has seen the Dragon Ride Wales go from strength to strength, ‟Cycling Weekly‟ has delivered a festive gift by naming the event the Nation‟s Favourite British Sportive for a second year running.

Casting their votes online, the British public gave a ringing endorsement of the Verenti Dragon Ride‟s blend of challenging mountains, so reminiscent of the long Cols of the Alps, fabulous scenery and great levels of organisational support. 2010 promises to be the best ever year for the event as new title sponsor, Verenti Bikes joins the Dragon Ride Wales to present extended entries, Verenti bike demos, an expanded start and finish village area and new corporate hospitality facilities at the Pencoed Technology Park.

“I‟m thrilled that once again the readers of „Cycling Weekly‟ have voted us the best spor-tive in the UK, it‟s a huge honour and we know we can repay all the loyalty of the legions of riders who come to Wales each year to ride the event.” says Lou Lusardi of organisers BreakAway Cycling, “With the arrival of Verenti Bikes I know that the 2010 ride will thrill and delight all those who take part. These are exciting times.”

Verenti Bikes, whose range of sportive bikes are available exclusively through Wiggle, have celebrated the partnership of event and machine by naming their flagship model after the Dragon Ride‟s famous Rhigos Pass. In an expansion of the Verenti Dragon Ride for 2010 a third short or ‟Corto‟ distance has been added for those wishing life at a slightly less strenuous pace and for those dipping their toes in sportive waters for the first time.

The Verenti Dragon Ride will take place on 6th June 2010 over 190km, 130km and the new 40km distances starting and finishing at Pencoed Technology Park and encompass-ing over 3000m of climbing for the Gran Fondo. Individual and corporate packages available immediately from £199. Standard entries open online at midnight 27/28th December 2009 with individual entries for the longer rides priced at £30, the new Corto ride can be entered online at £20.
