KILO TO GO wrap up their 2009 season of cyclosportive events with the Tour of the Peak taking place on Saturday 24th October. The name is borrowed from Britain's longest running major cycle race having featured on the calendar for 60 years, although sadly not run as a race in the last few years. Now re-born as a full-on cyclosportive the organisers have defined the ultimate Peak District ride. The route is set almost entirely within the confines of Britain's favourite and most cycling friendly national park - The Peak District National Park. Starting from Chapel en le Frith Leisure Centre in The High Peak there are two route options - 64 miles and just under 100 miles.

The long route takes in three of the most revered and well-known climbs in not only the Peak District but the UK. Organisers KILO TO GO GO point out, "When we first thought about putting the Tour of the Peak together, people told us - particularly those from outside the area - they wanted to tackle the climbs they had heard about or seen through TV coverage of the Tour of Britain. So we put a challenging route together taking in Cat and Fiddle, Winnats and Holme Moss - all favourite cycling climbs in their own right. The 64 miles option misses out Holme Moss but is still a real challenge."

Of course there is lots of beautiful Peak District mountain and moorland scenery in this ride which notably takes place on the last day of British summertime - the clocks go back one hour that weekend which makes for a well earned extra hour in bed.

600 riders have entered so far. More information about this ride now and KILO TO GO's 2010 season soon from www.kilotogo.com
