The Etape Eryri, which takes place on Sunday 15 June, is one of the most challenging and beautiful cycle sportives in the UK and Performance Director of the Great Britain Cycling Team Sir Dave Brailsford has confirmed that he will be taking part for the third year running.

This 'epic'  ride is expected to attract over 1500 riders and starts and finishes at the iconic Caernarfon Castle. Exploring the most breathtaking views and toughest climbs in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, the Etape Eryri will blow your mind as well as your legs. Organised by award winning professional event organisers, Always Aim High Events, the 2014 Etape Eryri is one not to miss.

Over recent years, the Etape Eryri sportive has become a firm favourite with Sir Dave and he has ridden the event every year since it was founded. The man who oversaw both Bradley Wiggins’ and Chris Froome’s consecutive victories at the Tour de France absolutely loves the event saying:

“Anybody who’s thinking about doing any event should come down here and do this one – it’s going to be fantastic”

Always Aim High Events Director and event planner, Tim Lloyd is delighted by the news that Sir Dave will be taking part once again in what is quickly becoming a classic sportive. He said:

“The fact that Sir Dave is coming back to take on the Etape Eryri for the third year running speaks volumes about the quality of the event. To have the backing of someone so highly regarded in the world of cycling proves that we really are organising a world-class event. The sportive has grown and grown since the first year and the fact that the Etape is expected to attract 1500 riders to the square at Caernarfon Castle is absolutely wonderful.

One of the things Sir Dave likes about us is that we are a local company organising world-class events locally. Sir Dave is himself a local man so he loves that fact that we are investing so heavily into the local economy and the way that we engage with the local community. We are very grateful to him for his support and can’t wait to see him on the start line in June.

We are very grateful to all our partners, including our principle partners Chain Reaction Cycles, Sports Tours International, Kinetica and Gwynedd Council for their continued support”

The Etape route could not be more spectacular and riders have four choices of distance: Mawr (103 miles), Canol (76 miles), Bach (47 miles) and the Etape Teulu (6.5 miles family ride). The Teulu is is perfect for families with children.

The Etape Eryri is not just popular because of its fantastic cycle ride but also for the festival atmosphere that is generated at the ‘event village’ in Caernarfon Square. In 2013, the square was filled with cyclists, spectators and members of the local community and the 2014 Etape will be no different. Always Aim High Events will again be organising live music, cycle displays and other attractions that the whole family can enjoy, meaning that the 2014 Etape Eryri will be a day worth noting in your calendar even if you are not intending on cycling!
