EnterChildrey Spring Classic 2014
Event: 30 March 2014

In its first year the organisers of the Childrey Spring Classic wanted to offer something a bit different to the mainstream sportives that are currently around while hopefully providing a friendly atmosphere that would also attract seasoned cyclists as well as newcomers or novices to cycling.

The sprotive provides varied routes that are not too demanding for newcomers but when the route splits it becomes more challenging.

The short 30-mile route is very flat for the first 25 miles at which point there is the only real climb that takes you to the foot of the Uffington White Horse and over some lumpy terrain back to HQ.

The longer 60-mile route is exactly the same for the first 25 miles and will be very fast for seasoned cyclist BUT do not be deceived. After the 25 miles the route heads onto and over the ridgeway where you will have five climbs including Ogbourne St George and the White Horse at Uffington towards the end.

At HQ there will be freshly baked cakes, no honestly, no bought cakes in sight along with bacon rolls, egg rolls for vegetarians, tea and coffees. There will be a couple of goodies and a raffle for a pair of Oakley glass for all entrants.
