KILO TO GO brings its second event to the South West with the Wiggle Glastonbury Tor. Based out of the Hengrove Park Leisure Centre, the routes head out over the Mendips and Somerset Levels. Hengrove Park is a £30m flagship leisure venue which is about to hold the 2013 National Summer Games run by Special Olympics GB, the UK’s largest multi-sports event for people with intellectual disabilities.

Sign-up to a KILO TO GO event and you’ll receive your ‘Ticket to Ride’ rider pack in the post in the days leading up to the event. This means that you don’t need to register on the day, just come straight along to the start line before 9am.

Somerset at the beginning of the apple harvest means just one thing – Wiggle Glastonbury Tor! Placed in the centre of the West Country area and starting from the southern edge of Bristol, riders take on the delights of the Mendips and the Somerset Levels. The magnificent Cheddar Gorge cuts right through the Mendips from the very bottom to the top and positioned at 20 miles, all riders get the opportunity to climb this impressive feature. Long route riders then head towards Glastonbury Tor before tackling 25 miles worth of ascent segmented by short fast downhill sections before the 5 mile descent in to the Chew Valley.

All routes head out of the leisure centre in an anti-clockwise direction to the group splitting climb, Dundry Hill, before heading to the Mendips and through the picturesque village of Axbridge before seeking out the climb up Cheddar Gorge. The routes then split with the long route option heading down on to the Somerset Levels with views across to Glastonbury Tor, after which the route turns and from Castle Cary there’s 25 miles packed with 800m of exhilarating climbing to the top of Devil’s Punch Bowl, before 5 miles of beautiful fast downhill before heading back to the HQ.

Following the long route through to Cheddar Gorge, the short route continues along the top of North Hill before rapidly descending down to Chew Valley Lake and on to Chew Magna before heading back to the leisure centre.

At KILO TO GO events, riders have the reassurance of knowing that they are support by an experienced support team comprising of British Cycling Safety Motorcycles, Paramedic motorcycles, mechanics, and a broom wagon.

After you finish your ride, rack up your bike and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere at our event village. Pick up your goodie bag and finisher medal before deciding to either see what you ride time / standard you achieved on the day, have a rub down from our physiotherapists, or chill out whilst having something to eat and drink.
