Liam Glen (Wheelbase Altura) made a late charge to take victory in the Tour of Carmarthenshire in Llandovery on Sunday.

The 64-mile race, promoted by Bynea Cycling Club, saw fine conditions, and although the race was spread out, nobody really managed to get away until there was 20 miles left to go.

But then a six-man break got loose from the front and started to pull away from the pack. With just a few miles left, the leaders were caught on a uphill climb and Liam Glen made his attack, passing the group and going on to win the race by 35 seconds.

The 22-year-old Somerset rider beat Luke Dunbar (Equipe CMI) into second place and Ben Davis of Bristol RC came in third.

Adrian Lawson (Cadence RT) finshed sixth overall but was top veteran and the quickest woman was Natalie Creswick (Team Mulebar Girl). Fastest junior was Rob Westwood (Cwmcarn Paragon CC).
